Faction: Stark

Winter is Coming!

Lore

House Stark of Winterfell stands as one of the Great Houses of Westeros, holding the prestigious position as the principal noble house of the North. Historically, they reigned as Kings of Winter. However, since Aegon’s Conquest, they have served as Wardens of the North, governing as the Lords of Winterfell. Their ancestral seat, Winterfell, is renowned for its formidable strength and enduring legacy.

The house’s sigil depicts a grey direwolf racing across a field of white, and their motto, “Winter Is Coming,” serves as a rare warning rather than a boast. Several point-of-view characters in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series belong to House Stark, offering readers an intimate look into the family’s dynamics and challenges.

Beyond the main lineage, House Stark may have distant relatives in the North, including the Karstarks of Karhold. Potential offshoot branches could exist in places like White Harbor and Barrowton. Some younger Starks have also held vassal holdfasts, serving under the Lords of Winterfell.

Together with their allies, Stark warriors—bound by loyalty and duty—fight steadfastly to defend their lands against all forms of evil or injustice.

Play Style

The Stark faction thrives with an aggressive and relentless approach. Their armies are formidable in close combat, becoming even stronger as they endure losses and push deeper into battle. (Aggressive Play Style). Their strategies emphasize direct offense, bolstered by a powerful cavalry capable of delivering decisive strikes at the opportune moment. Starks are an agile and adaptable force, adept at repositioning to outflank and overwhelm their enemies. They gain specific bonuses by claiming the Combat and Maneuver zones on the tactics board. (Great Cavalry and Mobility) With a diverse array of units—including fearsome direwolves—the Starks can adapt to many scenarios. However, they lack substantial long-range firepower. (Unit Variety and Direwolves). The faction offers minimal control elements or healing, but their ability to dominate the battlefield through sheer strength makes them a formidable foe. (Little Healing or Control).
